In the year of
1896, I John W VanMatre united with the Baptist church at a place in bollinger Count, Mo known as Mount Pleasant No. 2 by experience and Baptism. baptised by Referend Uriah[sp?] Jamison and by Revrent Wm Baker then I came to Indiana and that church went down and in April 1938 I united with the Baptist church in Cklay County Ind at a plce called Little Black recieved by Relation the Minister who was Moderator at the time was the Reverend W. A. Maalicoat of <the time was> Tirstan Ind [sp] My Wife Dora Van Matre united with the same church at the same place in the same year and was baptised by Thomas Gaither of the faith and order he being baptised by the same Reverend Baker. She spent the rest of her life with out a church home but departed this life in the full faith once delivered to the saints with a glory beam on her face and her funeral was preached by the same Reverent Malicoat.
